Members setting out on a walk

Footprints Walking Club

Footprints is a small friendly group organising walking events around the country; day walks, weekend breaks and longer holidays in the UK and sometimes overseas. New members are always welcome. Our age range is mostly around fifties to sixties, but this is not exclusive.

This website explains more about the club including write-ups of some of our recent events and complete local walks and walking breaks programmes. We also have an extensive selection of photos so you can see us and share our enjoyment of the countryside. If you’d like to join Footprints or just find out more about us, please use the contact form or come along to one of our local day walks.

Unlike most walking clubs, Footprints is not based in a single town or area. Instead we organise regular programmes of day-walks covering the Northern (mainly Peak District and Cheshire) and Southern (London and the South East) regions of England, and members can come along to any walks they choose.

We supplement our day-walks with a year-round programme of weekend breaks and longer holidays in the UK and Europe, based on hotels, country houses, guest houses and B&Bs. We try to move these events around the country as far as possible; locations recently visited include the Lake District, the South Downs, the Wye Valley, Yorkshire Dales, the Pembrokeshire coast, Shropshire and the Peak District. Destinations further afield have included the Black Forest, Switzerland and the Canary Islands.

New members are always welcome. The annual subscription of £8 covers the cost of running the club and the production of the quarterly newsletter – there are no extra charges for our day walks. The club is entirely non-profit making and all events are arranged by club members on a volunteer basis.

Whether you walk regularly at the moment or are a bit of a novice to walking or just want to meet some new companions to walk with, we think you will find us a friendly and welcoming club.
